What the Dickens Ebisu
The Tohoku area suffered much damage from the 2011 Great Eastern Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. It has already been six years, but it has only been six years. In Ishinomaki, the painful legal battle still continues concerning the 74 children and ten teaching staff at Ohkawa Elementary School who died or went missing that day. Last year in Fukushima, there was the discovery of the partial skeleton of Kimura Yuuna (at the time 7 years old) after 5 years and 9 months had passed. And there is still reconstruction work continuing at the sites of the tsunami’s impact.
So as not to forget and lose sight of the disaster, NPO nadia would like you to remember everyday to stay involved in the reconstruction efforts through volunteering on site and/or donating money. For that purpose, as we did in previous years, we plan to hold a charity event. We would very much appreciate it if you could attend.
Part of the charity event ticket proceeds will be donated to nadia for volunteer activities in 2017. nadia is to this day continuing to support Tohoku, and last year primarily for the future of the children in that area, we supported annual events held in Ishinomaki (the Sanjamatsuri for children, a Christmas party at Kamome Gakuen, a school for children who are mentally disabled) and installed large-scale playground equipment. Also, even in the Kanto area, we are energetically expanding our reach, such as supporting an orphanage for children who cannot live with their families for various reasons.
